There are people who enslave themselves for nothing,
They rise with the dawn to a senseless existence,
In a raw and primitive way,
To the challenge trapped in a hundred thousand setbacks.

There are people who don’t discover a generation behind time,
Who don’t decipher volatile change,
Severe in its severity,
Rude in its rigidity, without waves amidst the undulating,
There are people who preach on the roads without a sure point of arrival,
A poorly calculated calculation,
A method in the rare stumble.

There are people who tire for nothing,
For routine and proven effort,
Transformation comes through opus even if the action is distorted,
There are people who wake up to the same thing,
There are people who don’t seek clarity.

Stumbles…

A poem I wrote in Cuba a few months ago. It is based on the life of the ordinary Cuban—the person who walks through life with nothing. I place myself within the moment I wrote it, just as anyone, anywhere in this wonderful world, could do. It is not a complaint about routines; it is poetry.

————————////————————
